Jah Wobble's Ovation Magnum Bass

I was happily working away in my workshop when a bass line just started to permeate everything in the shop - my workshop and head included. Immensely loud but in no way intrusive, I knew that Jah was coming in - this was obviously the man just plugging in and doing what he does.

As a player he has influenced many, and its not hard to see why. Just playing a massive groove without even meaning to, he's just checking out a new amp in the shop but people are drawn from all over the floor to see where that noise is coming from.

It was genuinely an honour to work on, didnt need much really, it had been looked after by Aidy for several years. Very light fret dress and clean up, couple new knobs and set up. I gave it a good clean with Virtuoso Cleaner & Polish and its looking grand.

A beautiful old Gibson ES 175, in for a re-fret but only needed a fret dress and the electrics fixing up...what a gorgeous guitar!!

Very little wrong with it after all these years, its had a good spruce up before its off to Ronnie Scott's in London for a night of great music.

Love it!

Gibson RD Artist

What happens when a Gibson Explorer and a Moog synth have some afternoon delight?

This little beauty, the Gibson RD Artist!

It has the brains of a Moog and the brawn of a Gibson. Oh the humanity!

'Needs a bit of love to bring it back to life, I'll post a pic up of the finished thing.

Virtuoso Guitar Polish and Cleaner available online

I'm very happy to announce that Virtuoso Premium Polish and Virtuoso Premium Cleaner are now available from our website:

www.TheGuitarRepairWorkshop.com

You can chose either of the Virtuoso Premium products there or buy one of each and save some money!

I've noticed that just about every single Gibson that comes into the workshop gets a polish with this stuff, sometimes just the back of the neck - and the reaction from customers is always confusion..."How did you clean the neck - it feels amazing!"

Well....

Humidity and Temperature controlled workshop

The workshop is now humidity and temperature controlled.

Humidity isn't often a major problem in the UK as its fairly stable (unlike parts of the US where it can be a real issue) but its something worth having as I have more 'scratch build' wood in storage nowadays.

The extra heating is appreciated at the moment too!

Here's a beautiful SG, great to play - typical big warm tone of an SG.

It came into the workshop recently for a re-spray, but it needed a good bit more than that! It's had an interesting history, owned by Jonny Marr originally, then by Haven in the nineties, and found its way to its current owner through friends. It was painted white with Dulux gloss (ouch) on top of a nasty layer of silver on top of the original cherry. There was a huge break across the control cavity that had been filled with epoxy many moons ago and a headstock break t' boot!

Its looking sweet now though, and its ready for the next adventure! Ka-Pow!
